Welcome to AVMS, proud home of the Eagles! We are located just southwest of Sasabe Road and Ajo Highway, in Tucson, Arizona. We are one of two schools in the Altar Valley Elementary School District, and we serve students in 5th through 8th grade.

We are honored to educate the children in our area and offer many programs for families and students. We believe that all students can SOAR when given the opportunity, and we strive every day to make this a reality for the many middle schoolers on our campus.

My name is Joshua “Josh” Peebles, and I am very excited to be the new principal at Altar Valley Middle School! As a teacher and assistant to the principal at Flowing Wells High School, I have formed strong relationships with the Altar Valley students who attend high school, and I look forward to using my skills as an educator and mentor to help Altar Valley Middle School achieve greatness!
 
For the past two years, I have served as assistant to the principal in charge of attendance and drop-out prevention. I grew up in Phoenix, earned a football scholarship to Arizona Western College and Kansas Wesleyan University, and received my bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona and my Master’s of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix. I am one of only two Flowing Wells teachers selected to attend the Model Schools National Conference, not once, but three times!
 
I have been married to my wife, Lacey, for 11 years, and we are expecting our first child in August. I am not only excited, but also proud to be a part of the Eagle family!.
